Get to know us

Mt Hope was founded upon recognizing a need and embracing a vision. Jean Claude Rwagasore, himself a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide, identified a need within the local community of Bugesera, an impoverished area. Here, children as young as two years old had to walk an hour to reach school. In response, Jean Claude acquired land and constructed a building in 2021. By 2023, construction had progressed, and Mt Hope Christian Academy opened its doors in August of that year.

Our mission

At the Mt. Hope Foundation, our primary goal is to create a secure and welcoming school for the children of Bugesera, Rwanda. We are committed to providing every child with the opportunity to receive an education, have access to nutritious meals, and maintain proper hygiene. Our foundation is rooted in the belief of God's love, and we aim to cultivate a nurturing environment where children can flourish and succeed. Our mission is to bring hope to those who may feel hopeless, helping them overcome any obstacles they may face. We strive to make a positive impact in the lives of these children, ensuring a brighter future for them and their community.

Our vision

At Mt Hope Christian Academy, we are currently proud to offer a nursery school program. However, our vision extends beyond that, as we aspire to expand and establish a primary school in the near future. Alongside our educational initiatives, we also aim to launch a legal aid clinic dedicated to child protection, ensuring their safety and well-being. Furthermore, we believe in fostering physical and mental strength, which is why we plan to incorporate Taekwondo into our curriculum, providing the children with valuable self-defense skills and discipline. Additionally, we are committed to serving the broader community by developing a recreational center that will benefit not only our students but also the local residents. Through these endeavors, we aim to create an enriching and inclusive environment for children to thrive academically, emotionally, and physically.
